The Invisible World - Newbiggin Family Story Trail

Collaboration with Unfolding Theatre and 127 children.

There are many stories of the girl and the boy and the purple monster. This one begins...”

The story trail was co-created by families attending Action for Children’s Central Northumberland Children’s Centre groups and pupils at Bishop’s Primary School, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.

127 children worked with us to help create the stories. Special thanks to all of them for their brilliant ideas and enthusiasm.

Children began the project by reading Not Now Bernard by David McKee, the classic story where Bernard finds a monster in his garden, but his mum and dad are far too busy to notice! Not Now Bernard celebrates 40 years in 2020.

Out of my time with the children I wrote five new stories based on their wild and wonderful ideas. These stories became part of an outdoor story trail around Newbiggin by the Sea.
